Two dorky guys damned lucky to have such attractive wives. That's Cathy Lewis from radio's My Friend Irma, btw. Love her voice and surprised she wasn't a bigger star. This episode was funny but the humor is nothing like the wacky slapstick of the original radio show. I always pictured Fibber and Molly as being in their 50's or older; this couple appears to be in their 40's. There was potential here but it needed someone like Carl Reiner to punch up the dialogue.

Fans of Fibber McGee (I'm a long time fan) can stand this series for only two reasons, it was better than My Little Margie and all those other @#$%$ sit-coms.
However, even ONE episode with the Jordans would have been better than all these as a group.
If one wants to see the real McGees, watch the movies.

It must have had a short run, or it ran opposite something like The Nelsons, The McCoys, or Zorro, or any of a number of westerns. This never was on in our house. And in 1959 that TV set was on all night every night.
An OK show, corny worn out plot, but well acted. But there was too little humor for what it apparently was supposed to be, probably one reason why it wasn't on in our house.

Well, sorry folks before me, but i like this show VERY much! If you don't, then no one's holding a gun to your head to watch any more. There is too much comparing going on. Just watch the show on it's own merit. As `for Sweeney, sorry, but other than jim himself, they couldn't have found much better. CARSON as fibber?? OMG! I love carson, but that's like asking the jolly green giant to play a munchkin! Way too tall & looks nothing like the character. I've been a big fan of the radio show for YEARS, but obviously have more of an open mind regarding the tv version than some. Thanks Internet archive & the uploader of these for allowing me the pleasure of viewing such a fun show!

We might as well forget this as having anything to do with the radio show. So seeing it as a program entirely separate from that I'd say this tired old plot was unfortunately reused umpteen times after this in sitcoms over the years, and it reminds me of a few Love Boat episodes.
The actors are very excellent. If they could be lifted out of this turkey into a good series they would be very watchable. I'm giving it a couple stars for the acting. It gets no stars for plot.
Two bits of business were amusing, when McGee offered his hand as an ashtray and when he had his lighter at the ready at the table. But that was tarnished by his later admission about his intentions.

This might have made it a few years if they had given more thought to casting..Bob Sweeney tried hard but he was just not right for Fibber,,They should not have tried to cast "Teeny"..Why could they not at least try to use Gildersleeve (Harold Peary) and given the LaTrivia part to Gale Gordon?..Cathy made a fine Molly..
I liked the way they did the theme on the pilot episode-The other episodes here just didnt work as far as the opening..

I'm not so sure that this for a series would't have done better with different casting, Bob Sweeny was just too slow to portray the pleasant & nimble Fibber McGee character. Imagine the interaction between Fibber & Molly, Fibber & Teeny; Fibber and Myrtle (the unheard phone operator. Whoi coulda done this better and more like the original character? Picture Parley Bear or even Johnny Carson, maybe. Not THERE's a hindsighted afterthot.... Johnny Carson doing Fibber McGee... I think he coulda pulled it off. But Poor Bob Sweeny just wasn't a good character match..

No offense to the uploader, but this is the worst show I've ever seen from the 1950's. While even most lesser 1950's TV shows can be enjoyable, this is the exception to the rule.
Really, as much as I love 1950's TV, this show sucks spectacularly.
